Hi fellow C-section mama, my name is Jess.

Just a little about me, I’m 30 years old and a first time mama to my wee man who’s now 6 months old!

I’m a pelvic health physiotherapist and love what I do.

Prior to pregnancy I have been active all my life, completing multiple half marathons, a body building competition, I was a Les Mills Sprint bike instructor, and enjoyed getting outdoors for hikes, and was involved in lots of different sports on and off over the years.

I was fully prepared for a slow return to activity post partum as I knew this is what my body would need regardless of what type of birth I ended up having.

What I wasn’t quite prepared for was the stop start nature of this.

I have loved completing the C-section recovery program through the Birthmark Sisterhood! But it really has taken me just over six months to actually get through the whole program from beginning to end because of many little hiccups along the way!

From colds

baby vaccinations,

mastitis,

COVID,

injuries

and flare ups (not caused by the program by the way!)

just to name a few.

It hasn’t been the smooth linear journey to getting back in to exercise that I would have hoped for.

Talking to my fellow mama friends, we find ourselves getting on and off the exercise train a lot more as a new mama with these little set backs. Which probably means we have to be more determined and disciplined than we ever have been!

Over these six months I’ve had times of great motivation and routine, AND times where I’ve needed to take a break to recover to then get back on the train, and I’m sure you will experience the same ups and downs as I have.

But you have got this mama!

Take each day as it comes.

If you get your exercise in celebrate that’s awesome - go you!

If your taking a break because you need it, also go you! This is just as important!

We have to listen to our bodies and do what is needed, otherwise sometimes we can make the recovery take longer, so this is key!

Now at six months I am comfortably running for 25mins non stop with the goal to complete another half marathon in 9 months time.

I am lifting light weights again, I’m feeling good in my post partum body.

I would say a lot of this is down to progressively working on my strength through the C-section recovery program through the Birthmark Sisterhood.

So if you are on the fence about purchasing it and starting your rehabilitation today, get off the fence and do it! You won’t regret it!

Naomi and the sisterhood will help you get through the ups and downs that come with return to exercise post partum.

You will get there mama.

Jess

My recovery was significantly easier simply due to the information & support your program provides

MEL - 2ND TIME C-SECTION MAMA

I was introduced to the Birthmark Sisterhood website and program, following my second C-section just under one year ago.  My recovery the second time was significantly easier both physically, emotionally and mentally, simple due to the information and support your program provides and the information shared through your various social media pages.
